The golden rays of sunshine shone brightly through the fluffy white clouds. The outline of the clouds turning slightly grey a sign that once the whole cloud had turned that colour it would rain. There hadn't been much rain around here for a while so that must mean it was likely to rain very heavy or there could even be a storm. But for now at least, it was a fine day and a slight breeze offered a cooling gift, making the heat of the day a lot more bearable. The emerald top trees no longer green but what little leaves had not already fallen off for the coming winter where a mixture of browns, reds, and even yellows. The leaves that had already fallen from there barked homes covered the ground like a freshly laid carpet, crunching and crinkling every time they where disturbed by something.
A doe called out to her late born fawn, and that was one of the more pleasant sounds that could be heard. Far off in the distance was the desperate call of another fawn who's mother had been killed by wolves and all that remain of the doe was a pilled of her insides and some bones, but the fawn could still smell it's mother and it was doing what it had been taught to do and stayed close to it's dead mother, bleating depressively for it's mother to wake up from her everlasting slumber, but little did it know she would never wake and the wolves would soon be back to finish what they started .The crystal clear pond was thawing out from icing over last night. The fish swum happily around as if playing a game of chase, but in the sinister truth they wanted to eat each other but the litter ones -the would be dinners- where much faster than there bigger brothers and were easily able to out swim them but it wouldn't be long before one messed up and fell victim to a larger finish.
Then the sound of a wolf howl cut through the silence that was beginning to settle like a knife would an apple. The howl rose into the air mournfully, it was followed by a couple of shorted howls and soon the beast that had made them was one the move again. His claws churning up the ground as he ran tirelessly to the side of a marsh, the wolf raised his ebon painted head and howled again, the sound of his mournful cry could be heard for miles. The wolf lowered his golden gaze from the heavens and begun to inspect his new surroundings. Strages had no idea where he was, but he could tell that wherever it was a territory without an Alpha. A smirk played on his face. He had never been bothered at the thought of having his own land and pack, he had always been happy as a loner for the sheer fact that he didn’t normally fit in with other wolves, but now the idea of having his own territory and pack was quite appealing to the black wolf.
Strages thought more about the idea of claiming this place, his golden gaze continuously shifting in between every little detail. The black wolf sat down. His black pelt shone brightly in the sunlight. The wolf stood up and decided to explore. Strages walked slightly through the terrain that he was becoming surer that he wanted. He hadn’t got very far when he decided the he would put his past behind him and move on, he knew his decision was likely to have consequences but he didn’t care, right now this was what he wanted. Strages howled, but this time it wasn’t a mournful howl. No, it was a howl full of authority and passion, it was a claiming howl. A howl to show the world that he had claimed this terrain and to warn off and challengers. Once the ebon wolf had finished his howl he padded off to explore the rest of his new home.

((What will the name of your pack be? Please PM me the details )) Drift could hear the cry. It was one of familiarity. She smiled. It was the one she had seen at the Love River. Her eyes searched the area. Where might he be? What may he be doing? She breathed. He had claimed a land. She wondered what the packs name would be... Anything... Anything atall is the possibility. She turned her head to look at whatever may be facing her. Nothing sat there but a dead snowshoe hare.
Slowly, She got up and walked over to it. She prodded it with a single, long claw. Then she drew a line across the flesh and it split open. It was fresh as warm blood spilled out and even a little steam as the warm condensation hit the cold winters air. Snow had begun to fall around them.
She crouched down and crunched up the flesh, including the tiny bones. Then she stood up again. But moments later she sat once more. Then she tipped her head back and howled to the skys. She wondered if Strages would hear it... Probably... It was so loud and terrifying. She stopped and looked around. Nothing moved. Had he really heard it?

The tired on painted rested his head on his paws and soon he was off in the land of dreams. The sound of a joyous wolf howl filled the air and Strages lifted his head to reply, he knew that howl, it was his mate returning home to him. Strages stood up and wagged his tail, greeting the beautiful Drift. By her side were three cubs, two girls and a boy, one of the girls was a spitting image of her father while the other two looked just like their mother. “Welcome children.” Strages voice filled with fatherly care for his young pups. He moved closer to Drift and licked her muzzle. A smile came to his ebon face and he howled joyfully again. He had a home, a mate, and three perfect children. What more could a wolf want?”
Strages woke from his dream, he was panting a covered in sweat. He couldn’t understand why though, it had been a good dream, well it had been a bad dream in the fact that it was showing him something he could never have. The black wolf stood up so fast that if you blinked you would have missed it. The smell of prey entered his nostrils, and he knew at once it was a large male dear. Instantly the wolf slowly moved forward, the wind was working in his favor and the deer didn’t know he was coming. Strages’s paw stood on a twig and the deer started to run but the black wolf was close enough now that he could smell the animals fear, and the bloodlust had gripped him now, so he wasn’t going to give up. The wolf leapt forward and closed up the distance between the deer and himself.
Strages jumped forwards and the deer aimed a kick at the wolf but luckily it missed. Strages hadn’t managed to land where he wanted though and ended up sprawling to the ground and rolling into the deer which resulted in it falling on toppling over onto the black wolf. Strages was shocked but common sense told him he had to get out from under this heavy animal before it crushed him. Strages managed to wriggle free but the deer’s legs were badly injured and it couldn’t get up the black wolf leapt forward and his jaws closed around the animals throat and he tore the life from it. The large wolf howled and his jaws set to work pulling meat from the dead animal. It didn’t take the wolf long for him to eat his fill, and when he had done he left the carcass for the birds.
Walking back to where he had been sleeping he finally realized how wet he was and he shook his coat but it was pointless as the heavy rain was still pouring down from the skies and showed no signs that it was going to give up anytime soon. The wolf’s golden gaze looked up to the sky and he wondered what happened to a wolf after they died, and if there was anything after death what was his mother doing at this very moment.
The silence seemed to consume the terrain and Strages felt like he was been torn in two. He long to see Drift again. To leave his home and never return, to find the beautiful she-wolf he had fallen so deeply for and run away with her, they would start anew life and have pups, just like in his dream. Strages sighed, he knew that would never happen, if he loved Drift, which he did, then he would leave her to get on with he own life and she would never see him again. Strages whimpered like a young pup. He would never smell her sweet, sweet sent, or hear her angel like tones ever again. Strages head drooped and he breathed in deeply. He had done the right thing, or at least he hoped he had any way.
“What should I do mother?” Strages knew that his dead mother couldn’t answer him, but he often liked to talk to her, it made him feel better and he felt like they were together again, before the hunters that walked on two legs had come and taken his mother so cruelly from him. Strages paused, where those hunters cruel though? They may have taken his mother from him, and they knew they had made him motherless but they had done it anyway, but did wolves not do the same? Had he not just the other day hunted down a doe and in doing so he had left her fawn motherless. Strages blinked as he saw his mother’s death in a whole new light. For years he had been feeling nager and hatred towards the hunters that had killed his mother, but now, he still felt anger with them, but he could understand them, they where just like wolves and they where doing what they did.
The black wolf’s golden eyes widened in wonder. The more he thought about the strange hunters the more he wanted to learn more about them, he knew he never would and he would go to his grave without finding anything else out about them but he knew he would try to find out more even if it brought about his death which was likely to do. But he no longer cared about his life, in the short time he had known Drift she had become his life, he was obsessed with her, it was as if she were a drug and he addicted to her, but she was his life and she was gone, so know he no longer felt the need to worry for his own safety.
Strages snarled at him self, he hardly knew her, it was irrigational that he should feel this way about her, but he did and it wasn’t going to change anytime soon. Strages closed his eyes and sighed, it was then that he heard the howl, he knew at once who it was, within a second he was bounding through the woods, heading to where the howl was coming from, it wasn’t long before he saw the beautiful she-wolf. Silently the wolf made his way to the vixen, and when he was right behind her he spoke in his velvet voice. “Hello Drift.”

{In shock or joy?} Drift lowered her head slowly from the blue clouded skys. She heaved out a sigh. A soft breath of steam puffed out. Cold air whipped around her, freezing her to the bone. Finally she stood up and turned. Then she came back to her original position. Her sapphire orbs looked around. Then they looked towards the slowly sinking sun. She felt a presence behind her. She grasped the ground with her claws...
Drift jumped in shock at the sound of the velvet voice behind her. Or was it joy because she knew it so well... Even though she had known it for a matter of moments. A steady smile grew across her face... But he probably wouldnt be able to see.
"Hello Strages" Her mouth only moved in the slightest way that it was barely believable that it was actually coming from her. A small teardrop ran down her face. It was the first in a long time she had done so. Blood was still dripping from the wound in her shoulder. Everything was still for a moment.
"I didnt think I would see you again..." She smiled in a shakey voice. Her ears were flattened in sadness and joy. Another silvery teardrop fell to the now snow-filled ground.

Strages smiled, amused, as Drift jumped. “scared ya huh?” He teased playfully. Strages watched as a tear rolled down the beautiful she-wolf’s face. He had never been good at dealing with this kind of stuff, and it often made him uncomfortable “I have to admit I didn’t think I’d see you either.” Strages watched as another tear made it’s way from the protective home of her eye into the out side world. Strages wiped the tear away with his nose and then spoke. His velvet voice full of concern, “are you ok Drift?” Strages looked up to the sky and sighed as the snow turned into rain.
The rain poured heavily to the ground, the dry dirt now turning into a stream of sludge. It had not rained this heavy for years and it showed no signs that it would be stopping anytime soon. The grey clouds hung in the air like a bad dream. As the rain beat heavily against the ground, it also cam as a blessing, what little vegetation there is in this terrain was nearly dead due to the lack of substantial rainfall. Although some of the plants would probably drown from been over watered, the other plants would love the rainfall and the long awaited refreshing drink that it brought with it.
The black wolf’s golden gaze flickered up to the sky and he could see the grey clouds and he sighed. D.amn rain. He thought to himself. The smell of the dead deer that he had killed earlier entered his nostrils, and he went back to eat some more. As he tore the flesh from the bones his black muzzle got covered in the animal’s blood. The large wolf finished eating and padded back over to Drift. He had let the silence unfold around them for long enough, but the black wolf couldn’t think of anything to say, so instead he lifted his muzzle and howled. It was a normal wolf howl not for purpose other than to howl, just to howl and be a wolf.

{I have been waiting all my life}
"Yes... Everything is..." She started. Her grin grew and she carried on, "Everything is great!". She sat and waited for him to eat. She herself could smell the strong scents of the dead deer and she was tempted to eat it but she left him to chew it himself.
Everything grew silent for a moment. Blood still dribbled from her shoulder joint. Then the rain began to tip down. It hit her pelt hard and washed away the scarlet liquid. It washed away her tears to. The water soothed her. The sun had finally set now. The moonlight was approaching.
She heard Strages pad back. She still had her back turned. She hadnt even looked at him yet. Then her ears detected his wonderful howl. She herself tipped back her head and let out a powerful howl which echoed with his. They intwined together and tied a knot in eachother. Then, as she was howling, she place her tail on top of his, and began to twirl it around to.

Strages smiled as Drift spoke telling him that everything is great, “I’m glad to hear it.” His velvet voice was honest and he gently nudged her with his nose. His teeth showed in what would have been a scary snarl if not for his tongue hanging out at the side in a big wolfish grin. Although he was now wet through his spirits were high, and he wanted to play. He really was just one big over sized pup, strages lowered his front end so his butt was in the air and he pounce at Drift. Strages gently nipped her in a playful way be for bounding of a safe distance and yelling. “Tig you’re on!” Strages waged his tail happily.
The wolf darted up to her again but spun around and ran back off when he was just a few feet in front of her. Strages kept doing this for a while before he begun to feel his playfulness wear off. Sheepishly Strages walked back over to Drift and grinned again, his black fur stuck to his frame from the rain and his gold eyes seemed to twinkle. “Drift how would you like to join my pack as the Beta paramour and well… maybe if things go all right one day you could be my mate?” Strages hoped that she would agree, the reason he was saying not to be mate right away was simply to give her a chance to find some one else if she wanted so that she truly could be happy.

{Why then if it could be now?} Drift laughed as he bounced around and bounced feet away. As he came close she tried to tag him with a paw. She smiled. Her sapphire blue eyes glittered. Then she heard him say about the beta. She was of course, Rather shocked.
"Why then if it could be now?" She asked. Her tail flicked and her electric blue pelt glowing in the coming moonlight.

Strages heard her speak and it took him amoment before he could reply. "Look drift, I may be what you want now, but you hardly know me, i think that you should atleast give your self time to get to know me, and besides which it would be better for me... you see, i know that when you get to know me you won't want me any more, and it will be easier for me if you left me as just a friend but i would probably die if you left me and we had been mates." Strages velvet voice delivered it's message but it never gave away what he was thinking.

-I will have my muse when you next post- Tears glazed her eyes. Why was this wolf so stubborn? Her eyes grew more fierce. She opened her mouth and attempted her enchanting voice but although it still was bewitching it was shakey, "Have... Have it your way... If you think I am that kind of wolf then maybe this isn't the right pack for me...". [/blockquote]

Strages simply nodded, if she was so willing to give up at the first hurdle then maybe this wasn't the pack for her. Strages waited a moment before he spoke, his lyrics were his normal charming velvet voice. "If you can just turn And walk away And feel there’s nothing more You need to say And you do not feel a tearing In your Heart
If you can so easily Forget about me And all the things I tried to be Then I guess there was really no reason For you to stay"
Strages stuided Drift for a moment before her turned around and took refuge from the rain under a large tree who's branches offered a suprising amout of cover

Drift heard him. She let out a teary whisper of- "I can't... I can't forget you Strages..." She sniffed. And then she turned and began to head away. Half of her hoped he had heard and half of her hoped he hadn't. Her blue eyes glittered with a watery glance. Her beautiful tail flicked as she turned and her pelt was now glowing like the light of the moon. Her black half of the pelt was almost invisible whilst her electric blue half was bright.

Strages heard what drift said, his head hung low and a soft wimpe escaped his maw. His eyes closed and he supressed a sigh, this was probably for the best, after all she was the first vixen he had met, and unless the gods of fate were curl to him he was almost certain that he would meet many more beautiful vixens in his time. But he didn't want any other vixen, he wanted Drift. He wanted his dream to come true and he wanted to have cubs with her, and lead his pack with her at his side.
